Valentine’s weekend was such a wonderful one. I had done my homework ahead of time so I could have a nice, relaxing time. Smartest decision I’ve ever made!

I was so excited to go to dinner with my best friend I went out and purchased a new dress. I found this cute little white dress at Forever 21. I love the style of it, but I also love white. So combine those qualities with the price at Forever 21 and it was an instant winner.

I hadn’t worn heels in such a loooong time so it was a treat to keep myself standing all night. I thought they were a nice touch to my look, so no matter what I would not pass up the opportunity to pull together a nice look!

What were your plans this past weekend? Any favorite looks of yours? Feel free to comment and share with your friends, I’d love to hear from you all!

Happy almost Valentine’s Day! Personally, this is one of my favorite times of the year (I say that about every holiday). I love the color pink, so to me it’s a day to celebrate being girly. I do that everyday though…
As a kid I loved Valentine’s Day mostly because of all the candy I would receive. These days I’ve been keeping candy out of my diet so I just look forward to a day full of pink, sparkles and heart shaped everything.
I decided to style an outfit because who doesn’t love a colorful color scheme? I love the way the pale pink sweetheart dress looks paired with a darker, brighter pink accessory. Gold is my favorite accent color so I thought the bracelet fit well too. I look forward to the day I’m dressed in all Kate Spade heading to dinner with my sweetie!
What are all your plans for the most loving day of the year? Any outfit ideas? I’d love to hear from you!!

icy wonderland…

It’s been a few weeks, but I’m so excited to share my vacation trip with you all!! I thought my pictures came out great ๐Ÿ™‚

With classes starting tomorrow, I can’t help but feel like winter break went by far too fast. Today I took a sick day (I came down with a cold) and was feeling very nostalgic about the cabin trip I took only a week ago.
Last weekend a few of my best friends and I road tripped to Chama for the New Years weekend. I had the most fun I’ve ever had in a fairly long time. We stayed in my friend’s family cabin and made it a home for a little. We would get up early to sled and stay up all night playing board and card games.
Who knew that deer were so brave up there! Throughout the day, deer would stroll up to the porch and we’d feed then some deer food. Quite a little experience!
Not to brag, but I was fairly pleased that I picked up snowboarding last weekend too! I guess I’m a quick learner. I do have a lot more practice to do though…
The view was beautiful. We drove up on the snowiest day of the year so far but the weather over the weekend was more than enjoyable. I can only look forward to going back.
Happy New Year !!!

winter warmth…

Merry Christmas Eve! I feel like I’ve been waiting for today for years, but it has been a whole year I guess (haha).ย
I am so happy that it is fiiinally cold enough to wear big thick sweaters. I’ve recently grown quite fond of cowl neck sweaters. It’s so warm and soft, I feel like I’m wearing a blanket all day.
One of the best parts of being home is getting to see my little puppy Pixy. She was groomed yesterday and is basically a brand new girl. who doesn’t love a clean, good smelling doggy?
Christmas is my favorite time of year and I’m so happy to be spending it with the people I love. My older sister flies in today and I think that is the best gift of the season.ย

What are some of the things you look forward to this holiday season? Have a safe and blessed Christmas!

Christmas lights…

This holiday season so far has been a wonderful one. It’s been absolutely busy as well! One of the highlights so far was being able to take a break from everything and spend time embracing the holiday spirit. A few friends of mine and I took a night off and went to the River of Lights at the Albuquerque Botanical Gardens. I have been a few times over the past couple of years and I always love it. It was insanely busy this year but I was lucky enough to get some great pictures of my favorite lights with no other people in them!

The gardens had not only the lights set up but a few small winter snack stands as well. What trip is complete without a cupcake and some hot cocoa? Basically winter heaven.

So blessed to have the River of Lights so close to where I live. It’s always a wonderful time. What are some of the things you do where you live? I’d love to hear ๐Ÿ™‚

season decor: christmas…

With 5 days until Christmas, I decided I would finally show you my room decor! I decided to take it seriously this year since I knew I wouldn’t be home for most of winter break to appreciate the way my mom decorated our house. I wanted to truly feel the Christmas spirit now matter where I was.
I got most of my decorations at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Here and there a couple Target items popped in there.
More importantly I finally treated myself to the infamous Anthropologie mug! I have wanted one for so long. Rachel Parcell’s is what inspired me…
The last image on here is a shadow box I put together for my bathroom. There’s a few drawings of my own, some pictures from Pinterest and a holiday Lilly Pulitzer graphic. I am really happy with the way it came out. It added an extra pop to the bathroom. Who doesn’t love decorations?!
Let me know some of your Christmas decor favorites! I would love to hear ๐Ÿ™‚

holiday happenings…

Finals are over and I’m happy to announce I successfully passed all my classes and I’m just a few weeks away from applying to business school. How crazy is that? This semester has been an insane one, I can’t even begin to describe the things that have happened but I stayed strong and made it through it all!

It’s been such a long time since I’ve made a blog post. With stress of finals taking over almost immediately I had time for nothing but studying! I’m glad to have time now to take a break and do the things I love.

Thanksgiving was a much needed break from the mess of school. I went home for the day to see my family. Dinner was delicious. My mom is an incredible cook. I thank my lucky stars she was so blessed in that department (haha). I was given the task of table decor and I was fairly happy with the way it turned out. I went for a lighter look but incorporating those Thanksgiving and wintery touches.

Holidays also call for a few sister pictures (and of course some of them were sister selfies). I love my little one Maddie, she’s graduating this year and I can’t quite grasp the reality of it all. I still remember the trouble we used to cause…

A couple of days ago during my intense finals studying my dad sent me a picture of the decor at my house. It looks amazing!! I’m so excited to go home and see how cozy it is. I’ll be posting the holiday decor I have in my dorm room currently soon, so look out for it ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you all have a safe and blessed holiday season this year!

pumpkin hunting….

After a busy week last week, I ended my Friday afternoon with a corn maze, and by finding the perfect little pumpkin!
A local Albuquerque farm put on a Fractal themed maze with a pumpkin picking at the end. There was no literal “end” to the maze, it was more of a scavenger hunt for all the types of different fractals located in nature. So not only was it fun, but a little educational too, and you can’t beat the can you?
It was a lot hotter than I would’ve anticipated so I had to go with a shirt, but who doesn’t love sunny afternoons. The maze itself was fall-ish enough for me. All it needed was a hay ride at the end.
The search for my pumpkin was fairly extensive, I’ll tell ya. I circled the entire gazebo they were on for one. I picked up multiple pumpkins. Basically, my defining characteristics of a perfect pumpkin were:
1. plumpness
2. Orange-ness
3. size of stem
4. cuteness
My sweet little baby pumpkin fit all of my ideal characteristics, it was pretty much love at first sight.
This Friday, also Halloween, I’ll be carving pumpkins with a few of my friends so getting to pick the cutest little munchkin pumpkin at the end of the maze was perfect timing really. I’ll probably decorate the little guy with paint and glitter because Halloween is about glamour too.ย
The fall season is slowly taking over the desert more and more and I couldn’t be happier. The corn maze was the greatest fall afternoon activity.ย
What are some of the things you do on a fall day? I’d love to hear! Feel free to comment all the things you love to do ๐Ÿ™‚
Happy Monday!

balloons and fiestas…

One of the greatest things about living in New Mexico is the International Balloon Fiesta held right here in my home town of Albuquerque. I have been so many times over the years and it is an incredible experience every time. Nothing like a beautiful sky full of balloons.
Granted getting up at 4:30 this past Thursday morning wasnโ€™t sounding to great to me at the time, but it was absolutely worth it.
It was humid and raining all morning so I apologize for the flat frizzy hair.
Have a great week! Iโ€™d love to hear from you all and your friends about your favorite fall traditions ๐Ÿ™‚

how to: candy apples and fall love

What do you get when you mix Disney, food, and being an RA? A very successful program, that’s what. Last night, along with my other coworkers Alyssa and Arely, put on a Snow White themed program for our residents. We decorated the lounge, played the Classic Disney movie, made a green lime flavored “potion” and made candy apples!ย
The green drink was made is solely like sorbet, 7up, and frozen limeade. It was pretty tart but everyone seemed to enjoy it! It was the fastest to go.
The candy apples were equally as simple to make. We had six bags of caramel candies with about a half cup of milk and melted it all together in a pot on the stove. Arely and I made the apples and our teamwork was impressive. Alyssa would bring us the apples with Popsicle sticks stuck in the top of them. I would hold the apples and Arely would move the pot so that th ย apple would get coated with the caramel. We plopped them on individul plates then off to the table they went. We had quite a few compliments!

So many people came to our program, the overhead picture doesn’t even do it justice. We were so excited to have had so many people show up! We’re hoping to do something like this again for our residents closer to Halloweem time. Who doesn’t love a good themed party and handmade candy apples?

I’d love to hear about your favorite homemade snacks!
