Living in a dorm, my interior design possibilities are very limited. The past few months I’ve done nothing but sit on Pinterest and just pin the day away daydreaming of beautiful interiors for the home I one day own. I have high hopes for my first apartment by my self, a touch of girly is always a good idea, right?
I absolutely love furniture so I was delighted when I came across Chairish online! It is an exclusive curator approved, online marketplace for vintage furniture. Not only was the furniture perfect, but the website was so fun to look at too, and that’s always a plus! I was specifically drawn to their chairs. I love bright pops of color, and some of the chairs I came across were exactly what I could imagine sitting in my future home.
I put some styles together below with some images I found online from Pinterest, hope you enjoy!

I immediately knew I wanted to style a room around this pink chair. With white details it was gorgeous!

These two chairs are both pretty wild, but I love cheetah print and the other blue chair was just as pretty. I thought touches of gold would work well with both chairs.

These last two are polar opposites! The dark blue chair is so clean looking it’d work well with just about anything (including zebra stripes). The purple chair on the other hand was so bright and a little out there, but I love it SO much! I think styling them in white rooms would really brighten up a room.

I hope you liked the stylings I chose, feel free to comment what room decor you love! Also head over to Chairish to see where I got my inspiration 🙂

season decor: christmas…

With 5 days until Christmas, I decided I would finally show you my room decor! I decided to take it seriously this year since I knew I wouldn’t be home for most of winter break to appreciate the way my mom decorated our house. I wanted to truly feel the Christmas spirit now matter where I was.
I got most of my decorations at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Here and there a couple Target items popped in there.
More importantly I finally treated myself to the infamous Anthropologie mug! I have wanted one for so long. Rachel Parcell’s is what inspired me…
The last image on here is a shadow box I put together for my bathroom. There’s a few drawings of my own, some pictures from Pinterest and a holiday Lilly Pulitzer graphic. I am really happy with the way it came out. It added an extra pop to the bathroom. Who doesn’t love decorations?!
Let me know some of your Christmas decor favorites! I would love to hear 🙂

new year new room…

I mentioned a while back that I would be moving rooms come the beginning of the school. I did move rooms! However I never once showed anyone how the decorating process ended up. Needless to say, I was pretty pleased with the outcome.
Since I only have half of the room I originally had over the summer, (click here and here to see more) my space is much more compact and sometimes I can’t decide if it looks to cluttered or not. Other days I’m content.

My desk/workspace/dresser area tends to get a little cluttered, but besides that fact, I think it is very personalized. Of course I have my twinkle lights hung up, those are a room decoration must! All of my markers, colored pencils, paint brushes, and miscellaneous desk items are in white tin cans. I even got a little creative and painted a donut on one of them. I have small decorations just throughout the room in an attempt to bring a sense of girl but with an even stronger sense of creativity. I really like decorating with flowers. Unfortunately recently I haven’t had the chance to go out and buy some fresh flowers, but for now the fake satin ones will do!

My bulletin board is kind of an organized mess to me. There’s not too much on it but none of it really means anything (haha). I have my name tag pinned at the top mainly so I don’t forget it! (My calendar also still says it is September so I really should fix that, but who truly has the time *wink*)

My dresser display is simple. I have a few candles here and there throughout my room. One of my favorite pieces is my white canvas. It hung above my bed in my previous room, but from this location it is easier to see. I really like the simplicity of it, and it definitely captures my two favorite things. Near the end of the dresser top you can see one of my of my homemade coasters.

I am so pleased with how my bed area ended up. The sheer curtains make it seem so much comfier and welcoming. It’s almost “fairy” like to me, with the twinkle lights as well. I’m kept company by 4 of my closet stuffed friends, they’re such loyal companions. My accents pillows are Paris themed, and so graciously made by my mother.

Please mind the hideous yellow color of my door. But can you tell I’m an RA? I definitely do love the decorations!
Feel free to comment with some of your favorite room designs and decorations and share with your friends! I love to hear from you all 🙂

how to: a room and a love of pink

Like I’ve said before, one of my favorite parts of my room is where I sleep. Now knowing that I’ll be moving out of this room soon, I’m really cherishing the way it looks now.

I love crafting so it’s a given that almost all of the decorations in my room are DIYs. Right above my bed are a crafted M and a canvas I painted (and can’t forget my Christmas lights). I love the color pink, so it’s fitting that the canvas proves that, right? A white canvas, black paint and the love of cursive really goes a long way.
The M is simply a styrofoam M. White flowers were stuck all over. It was a gift to me, however the large pink peony and rose were a little touch added by me.
I hung the canvas and the M up first then I added the lights to the wall. Luckily it worked out well!
The area around my desk is a another favorite of mine. Particularly the calendar I crafted. This was so simple! I found a calendar on Pinterest (currently July is hung up but I have other months as well). I attached it to a wooden craft skewer so that it is easily removeable. The pink string was an extra touch because, of course, I think pink is a nice touch.

It’s very simplistic but the look of it all makes me pretty happy to have called this room home for almost a month.
If you guys like the touches I’ve added to my room, let me know! Thanks for reading 🙂

living simpler the RA way…

After this week is over, I will officially have completed my first week the job as a Resident Advisor for Casas del Rio at the University of New Mexico.
It’s been a while since my last post, but with moving in, training all last week, and my first full week of work, i have been so busy! However, blessed an unbelievable amount.
One of the first things that Travis, our Resident Director, told us during training, was that we are all a family. Only a week and a half later and I have never found something to be so true.
All of the returning staff has been so helpful and with many hours already logged at the desk, I’m beginning to get a hang of things (mind you I’m a little iffy with phone calls!)
But anyways, my favorite perk of working is my room. Currently I’m living in a temporary room because my permanent room is occupied by a summer resident. This just meant I have the whole entire room to myself for a month! I have a loooot of fun decorating it. i split the two sides (meant for two residents) into my bed side and my desk and everything else side. Where my bed is, is my favorite, mostly because I love the white Christmas lights.
Currently one of my coworkers, Alyssa, is living in the suite next door to me. She is a new RA as well. We have gotten along so well and thanks to her I’ve made more new friends in one week that I did my entire freshman year. Like I said, I’m pretty blessed.
But anyways, thank you all for reading! I hope that you will comment your thoughts and what not, I’d love to see them! Have a wonderful week 🙂
